The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents, welcomes folk singer-songwriter and humorist Loudon Wainwright III as he returns to St. Augustine for a concert on Friday, March 18, 2021.

Wainwright first came to fame in 1972, when his "Dead Skunk" became a Top 20 hit. He dropped out of acting school to pursue a career in music and has made a name for himself in both fields over his 45-year career. His work as a songwriter has been prolific, with his songs recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Mose Allison and his son, Rufus Wainwright. A five-disc compilation of his work called 40 Odd Years was released in 2011.

His music has also been in films directed by Martin Scorsese, Hal Ashby, Christopher Guest, Tim Burton, Cameron Crowe, Judd Apatow and Steven Soderbergh.

Wainwright's acting career has included roles in TV (M.A.S.H.), on Broadway (Pump Boys and Dinettes) and in films (most recently in Soderbergh's film Mosaic). He also performs a one-man theatrical show, Surviving Twin, that focuses on fatherhood and issues of identity, loss and pet ownership.

In October of 2020 Loudon unveiled the album I'd Rather Lead A Band, in which he is featured as a vocalist with Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks. The 14 -song collection of classic songs from the 1920s and '30s was widely acclaimed.
