Christmas Past and Present

This local event at the Mission Nombre de Dios combines authentic Spanish traditions in a beautiful, torchlit setting with holiday plays, food, and music.

Christmas Past and Present in Old St. Augustine is a heritage and holiday event presented by Mission Nombre de Dios and the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche with the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. The event will feature nativity displays, traditional Christmas plays, hot cocoa and cookies, and luminaries and torches lighting up the grounds of the Mission.

Colonial Spanish musical entertainment will be performed, including a special theatrical performance of a traditional Spanish play. The play is 15 minutes and will take place at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. 

Hot cocoa and cookies will be available afterwards. Cantorae St. Augustine, a choral group that seeks to restore the the music stylings of chant and polyphony, will be performing old Spanish hymns and English hymns.

All the events will be presented by torch and candlelight on the grounds of the historic and beautiful Mission of Nombre de Dios and Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche.

The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. Admission to this Event is FREE to the public.

It is hosted by the Diocese of St. Augustine/Mission Nombre de Dios and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine. This event is also presented by Theater with a Mission and Cantorae St. Augustine.
