Summer Improv Theatre Series

The Limelight Theatre is hosting a variety of improv events over the summer of 2016, including an Improv Summer Series for Grown Ups, two eight-week courses on the basics and more advanced improv skills, and monthly Adult Improv Hangouts.

Adult Improv Hangout

Adult Improv Hangout is a monthly event that allows a group of students (all skill levels are welcome) to learn the art of playing together without a script. The next Adult Improv Hangout will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2016, upstairs at the Limelight. Tickets are $5 at the door.

3 Blind Dates: An Unscripted Romantic Comedy

Also on Sunday, July 10, there will be a special showing of Amy Angelilli's award-winning "3 Blind Dates: An Unscripted Romantic Comedy." This show will precede the Adult Improv Hangout, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets for "3 Blind Dates" are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Visit here to purchase tickets for this show.

Improv Summer Series for Grown Ups

This series offers participants a chance to dive into the growing improv community in a safe, supportive environment. The classes will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on select Thursdays in the summer: June 30, July 14, July 28, August 18, and September 1, 2016. Each two-hour class is $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

8-Week Courses

For those who want to get "serious" about improvisational theater, the Limelight and the Adventure Project offer two 8-week courses for beginners and for more advanced student with Amy Angelilli. Both courses are $99 per person. The next session of the Improv Basics 8-Week Course will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016. The Advanced Improv 8-Week Course, for which the Basics course is a prerequisite, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays from June 15 to August 3, 2016.

Amy Angelilli is a graduate of Philadelphia's ComedySportz School of Improvisation and Denver's Bovine Metropolis Theater School of Improvisation. She has performed at improv festivals in Colorado and Florida and is the author of "Chief Adventure Officer of The Adventure Project, which offers adult summer camps, spiritual centers, yoga communities, and business retreats.
