  • Cap's on the Water is a throwback to the Old Florida! Back when you could have taken a boat to dinner, tie up at a dock and have some fresh oysters. Cap's is just a short boat ride or drive; north on A1A from St. Augustine, Florida - the view alone is worth the drive! This waterfront restaurant is tucked away on the Intracostal Waterway down a small residential street. Just look for a big grey Castle and turn left - no joking! Cap's offers waterfront dining out on their deck, or at the Oyster Bar. Inside Cap's you will find an intimate setting, with large booths and large pained glass windows. This inside setting is great for a romantic night out or special celebration dinner. The sunsets at this restaurant are possibly the best in the city. Enjoy a Stilton salad, tapas platter, crab cakes, sea bass, filet mignon, fried shrimp or other fresh local seafood which are all of Cap's specialties. Cap's has a full liquor and wine list, awarded with Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence for 2006 and 2007. At the Oyster Bar you will find a more relaxed setting, where shorts and flip flops are almost expected. Sit at the bar and try some of Cap's amazing gumbo or some of their raw, steamed or baked oysters. The Dungeness crab and local Mayport shrimp are also great menu choices. Check out Cap's on the Water, a true Florida dining experience, not to be missed while in St. Augustine. Cap's offers several rental facilities for catered events and large parties. We had a family group ranging in age from 1 to 61.The outside eating next to the water was fun for everyone and was especially great for keeping the little ones busy and entertained. The service was great and the varied menu was a delight.Great food, great location and great service..What more can you ask for.

First time. Brought family from Michigan. Sat 10 minutes before server came. She was not smiling and not enthused about being at work. We had to ask about specials, we told her it wa our first visit. She really didn't care. Ordered drinks and gator tail. It was over cooked and we had to ask for plates and utensils. She rolled her eyes. I ordered grilled shrimp tacos. They tasted like the grill had not been cleaned. Won't go back.
