Boston centers on the talents of Tom Scholz, who is the guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer. Boston is a staple of classic rock and continues to get airtime on radio stations. They are best known for their hit singles, "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock and Roll Band", "Smokin", "Don't Look Back", and "Amanda." Boston is a powerhouse band and has sold over 31 million albums in the United States.

The first album released by Boston is regarded as their most popular and consist mostly of tapes recorded in Scholz's basement. The self titled album was released in 1976 and was an instant success. The album ranks as one of the best-selling debut albums in U.S. history with over 17 million copies sold. The band quickly shot to fame due to their unique musical style, lead singer, Brad Delp's vocal abilities, and overall appeal and style. Boston was the first band in history to make their New York City debut at Madison Square Garden. They have released a total of six studio albums, with their self-titled debut album still holding the best-selling spot.

Boston's lineup has changed throughout the years, with many band members leaving to pursue other projects. However, Tom Scholz, the original band member, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and keyboardist has remained since Boston's inception in the 1970s. Other original band members who performed on the top-selling debut album include Brad Delp (vocals, acoustic guitar), Sib Hashian (drums), Jim Masdea (drums only for the song "Rock and Roll Band"), Barry Goudreau (rhythm guitars, lead guitars), and Fran Sheehan (bass guitar).

Three more of the group's albums hit RIAA Certified platinum in the U.S. including, the 1978 album, Don't Look Back, 1986 album Third Stage, and 1994 Walk On album. This group serves as a leading example in classic rock for their musical innovation including developing multi-track guitar harmonies and more. Boston's musical style is considered hard rock with elements of progressive rock as well. The group released their sixth album, Love Life & Hope in December of 2013.
